Yes, you read it right, the way life gets manifested with in us, same way death also manifest. Surprised! As per the ancient science of Yogic system there is certain process through which death manifests at its own. One need not to strive for it. Do you ever heard the exact definition of death. In the medical sciences it in not cetain, its changing time to time.
Medical science till now, not able to pen down exactly about death. If doctor declares someone dead, does that mean he is really dead. There are various examples where people have revived from particular death point ( as per Medical science). How it happens that somebody has stopped breathing and doctor declared them dead, still they wake up alive. There are instances when the machines gone flat, no breath , no heart beat, from such a worst condition people came alive and walked on.
We all have seen the manifestation process of life in the womb of mother. It takes almost nine months for life to manifest. Then death is a reverse process of life. Death is not a single step action. As per the Yogic system death is a process of dismantling of three bodies ( Sthula sharir, sukhsma sharir and karana sharir).
In ancient culture of India, people were well aware about the manifestation of death. That's why they more emphasized on death rituals than birth. What happens when Saman vayu leaves the body?
Saman Vayu is responsible for regulation of temperature of the body. Saman Vayu is the first which leave the body completely within 25 to 30 minutes. That's why when saman vayu starts leaving, the body will loose temperature and soon it will get cold. After this vayu has left the body completely, regulation of temperature will not be there. Saman Vayu vacates muladhar Chakra at last. That's why the pelvis region is at higher temperature than rest of the body after death.
What happens when Prana vayu leaves the body?
Prana vayu is responsible for the respiratory system. When the respiratory system gets feeble, this is the indication that Prana vayu is getting weak in that body. It takes bit longer time than samana vayu to leave body. Prana vayu will take around 50 to 60 minutes to vacate the body completely.
Once the Prana vayu left the body, there is no chance of retrieval of life in that body. Miracles can happen only during the period of leaving of Prana Vayu but not after that.
What happens when Apana and Udana vayu leaves the body?
Both udana vayu and apana vayu are balancing each other when the person is alive. So both will leave the body almost at the same time. Udana vayu is responsible for the buoyancy of the human body and Apana vayu is responsible for the downward movement and excretion of toxic substances from the human body.
So once the death process started, Udana vayu starts leaving the body and the process of leaving will continue for next 12 to 15 hours. Meanwhile the body will start loosing buoyancy. There is a lot of difference between carrying a live person and a dead body. When udana vayu is active within the body it creates buoyancy so you will not feel the weight of the body but when buoyancy feature of the body goes away, suddenly you'll feel extra weight.
Secondly when apana vayu start leaving the body, the process of excretion at organ as well as cellular level cease to happen. Apan vayu takes around 12 to 15 hours to leave body completely. During this period body will stop excreting and it will start getting impure. Body will start accumulating toxic Chemicals as the result of biochemical activities at cellular level and decay of the body starts.

What happens when Vyana vayu leaves the body?
Vyana Vayu is responsible for the movement and the expansion of the body. The vyana vayu starts leaving body at the time of the death but it will take a longer period for complete evacuation from the body. This period is extended upto 11 to 14 days. That's why in Hindus culture death rituals continue for around 14 days.
This has been noticed that even if the the individual is declared medically dead, certain process continues to execute within the body. The expansion of the body continues even after the death. Caretakers of dead bodies at mortuary can notice that hairs and nails of dead bodies continue to grow for 5 to 7 days or longer period. This is happening because the vyana vayu is still in the process of leaving the body.
